Where I stand on
The Issues
Em’s basic principle is everything is connected. Quality of life, taxes, education, healthcare, equality for all. It all interconnects by looking at the whole picture we can make our community even better.

Fiscal Stewardship
Em, like many of you, has seen our property taxes increases, and while she voted for these increases, she also knows the cost this is putting on us as homeowners and renters here in Richfield.
Em hopes to bring clarity and oversight to how our tax dollars are spent. Using her experience as treasurer to multiple different non-profits. Em hopes to provide the same guideness to how the city spends our tax dollars. Just like donors expect accountability from the non-profit board spending their donated dollars, you should expect the same from city council members when looking at how our tax dollars are spent.
Equality For All
For Em, Equality for All, isn’t just a slogan. It is how she lives her life. Everyone deserves to be treated equally. We must examine how we have failed to uphold the promise of liberty for all. And hold all public officials and offices accountable for their actions both in the past and presently.

Accessible, Affordable Housing
Em sees housing as a basic right. Everyone, regardless of who they are deserves safe and secure housing. Your ability to pay should not determine if you have it. Everyone should have a roof over their head and a place to call home.
Having worked with refugees and asylum seekers Em has seen first had the lack of affordable low cost housing available. She seeks ways to allow anyone that wants to live in Richfield to do so.
Because of these views Em supports ways the City of Richfield can provide resources to those having housing insecurity or needing housing as recent arrivals to our city and country.
Healthcare for All
Em advocates for the expansion of Minnesota Care to all citizens of Minnesota. As a daughter to a nurse, Em was taught the importance of seeking out medical treatment and working with medical providers to ensure you can stay healthy. This background also laid the groundwork for her to understand the importance of everyone having healthcare that is affordable and available to them as such Em plans to work with state legislatures to help make this a reality.
On the local level, healthcare for all, to Em, means finding ways to provide medical resources to those that live in Richfield. Whether that means providing a free or reduce price vaccination clinic or providing ways for those without insurance to find and seek out medical advice. Em hopes to be a resource to the residents of Richfield.

Education for All
Em is a strong advocate that everyone should be a lifelong learner. Whether working alongside Richfield Public Schools to get the resources they need, or helping seniors find resources to navigating financial decisions. Em wants to be a resource for citizens to be lifelong learns.
As a Girl Scouts troop leader and a private music instructor Em has seen the benefits of instilling lifelong learning values into everything she does.
Building Community
Em is passionate about building community. Her efforts include recently trying to build the arts community in Richfield.
Em is a strong advocate for Richfield being a city for the arts. Providing places for artists to create, sell, and teach their craft. Em would love to see Richfield be a city similar to other smaller communities, one that helps promotes and welcomes artists, musicians, and thespians.
